Description
One of our Most Popular Small Shade TreesThe Japanese Fern Tree is neither Japanese, nor a fern. What is it? It’s a lovely, bushy evergreen whose long thin fern-like leaves grow out from its stems. The tree’s symmetrical globe-like top offers dense shade wherever you plant it. (And, just in case you were wondering, it is originally from India and East Africa.)A moderate grower, it can reach 20 to 25 ft., but slowly. It prefers full to part sun, watering on a regular basis, and well draining soil. Evidence has proven that it is wind tolerant. In South Florida, it survived hurricane force winds that sent other trees toppling.
