Description
From the Rainforest to your Interior ForestThe Emerald Gem plant embraces its name with richly colored dark green leaves. Native to the floor of rainforests in Asia and South America, its short shape makes it ideal for places where height may be an issue. The plant rarely grows taller than 30”. Its heart-shaped leaves are waxy to the touch. The Emerald Gem is a bit more finicky about watering. Too much or too little water can cause the bottom leaves to fall off. One smart tip is to allow the top half of the soil to dry out before watering. Also, as it is a tropical plant, use warmish water, and never put ice cubes or ice water on the soil. The plant grows best in bright indirect light. In lower light, they have a tendency to become thin and spindly. Best to keep away from pets and children, as the Emerald Gem is slightly toxic.
